Phinisi – A traditional wooden boat originally from Makassar – South Sulawesi acknowledged as a historical legacy by The UNESCO was first time built on 14th Century by Prince Sawerigading from Luwu Kingdom. He built the boat using woods of Devata tree which was known as a sturdy tree. And the history said that the local villagers in Ara, Tana Beru and Lemo Lemo first helped him rebuilt his boat to a bigger boat and that wooden boat was named Phinisi means “A strong boat against the waves”.
